ISLANDWOOD NAMED RECIPIENT OF NATURE’S PATH 2010 ENVIROKIDZ GIVING BACK AWARD

$5000 Award Will Support IslandWood School Overnight Program for 2010/11

May, 1, 2010– IslandWood, the outdoor learning center on Bainbridge Island near Seattle, has announced it was named a recipient of Nature’s Path Organic Foods’ 2010 EnviroKidz Giving Back Award.  The Giving Back Program donates money to non-profit organizations, such as IslandWood that support endangered species, habitat conservation and environmental education for kids.

“Receiving the 2010 EnviroKidz Giving Back Award from Nature’s Path will allow us to continue to connect kids with the outdoors in the Puget Sound region,” said Thatcher Heldring of IslandWood.  “We so appreciate the award and continued support from the loyal Nature’s Path customers who made it possible.”

IslandWood is a magical school in the woods on an island near Seattle where kids from inner-city schools explore connections with the natural world.  The week-long programs for 4th 5th and 6th graders integrate science, technology and the arts with outdoor experiences on the forested 255 acre campus that includes inspiring outdoor classrooms like a tree-house over a bog, a bird-blind on a marsh, a raft on a pond and a suspension bridge over a ravine.

“It means so much to us to be able to support organizations like IslandWood that are actively working to educate kids about the environment,” said Arran Stephens, President and Founder of Nature’s Path Organic Foods.  “The incredible customers who support our EnviroKidz line made it possible, and we are extremely grateful to them.”

Nature’s Path, North America’s number one organic cereal manufacturer celebrated the 10 year anniversary of its EnviroKidz Giving Back Award last year.  For more information go to www.naturespath.com.
