Spotted ratfish

Spotted ratfish (Hydrolagus colliei)

Swims slowly across sand in search of prey. Crushes clams, crabs, and shrimp etc. in forward facing "incisors". Food located primarily by smell. A type of “ghost shark” only loosely resembling true sharks They have the same cartilaginous skeletons but unlike sharks, their upper jaws are fused to their brain cases.
