Getting to IslandWood

Please note that due to ferry schedules and the time it takes to get from IslandWood to the Seattle Airport we encourage guests to NOT plan on flight departures earlier than 10 am.

We’re easy to find—just follow the directions below!

Airport to Ferry

Seatac Airport to the Ferry By Public Transportation
(Travel Time ~60 minutes) 
Seattle's Light Rail system runs from the Airport to downtown and will drop you off a few blocks from the Ferry Terminal.  The train runs daily from 5:20 AM (6:20 AM on Sunday) until around midnight - roughly every 10 minutes. Fare is about $2.50 each way.  More information is available at the Sound Transit Light Rail Website

  1. Follow signs in the Airport for the "Link Light Rail"
  2. Puchase a ticker for $2.50 before boarding the train.
  3. Ride to the Pioneer Square Station (10th stop) or University Street Station (11th Stop).
  4. Walk from the station to the Colman Dock Ferry Terminal.
 

Seatac Airport to the Ferry By Car
(Driving Time = 20 minutes in light traffic)
  1. From the airport, follow signs to I-5 North, direction Seattle.
  2. Take exit 164B (Fourth Avenue South).
  3. At the end of the exit, turn right onto Fourth Avenue South, continue to next intersection at Royal Brougham, turn right and continue straight.
  4. After crossing First Avenue, look for the ferry terminal signs and turn right.
  5. Continue straight and in a few stoplights you will see the left-hand turn lane to enter the terminal.

Ferry to IslandWood


Bainbridge Ferry Terminal by Cab
Upon disembarking from the ferry, head out to the front of the Ferry Terminal to where the cabs will be waiting.  Most cabs drivers know where IslandWood is, but if they don't, tell them "It's next to Blakely School." One way cab fare is approximately $15.00. The trip takes less than 10 minutes.


Bainbridge Ferry Terminal by Bus
 

Kitsap Transit Route #98 and Route #97 buses stop in the vicinity of IslandWood. IslandWood is located on the east side of Blakely Avenue, south of the Baker Hill junction and Blakely Elementary School.  NOTE: KITSAP TRANSIT DOES NOT RUN ON WEEKENDS.

Kitsap Transit also offers ACCESS Service which provides door-to-door or curb-to-curb transportation to the elderly and disabled unable to use the fixed route transit system. To schedule rides on Kitsap Transit ACCESS, you must first complete an eligibility application. For reservations and information, please visit Kitsap Transit ACCESS.

Bainbridge Ferry Terminal by Car
(Approximately a 10-minute drive to our campus)
  1. Drive up the hill from the ferry to the second stoplight, turn left onto Winslow Way.
  2. At the next 4-way stop, turn right onto Madison Avenue and continue to the next 4-way stop at Wyatt Way.
  3. Turn left onto Wyatt Way.
  4. Continue on Wyatt, rounding the back of Eagle Harbor (water will be to your left).
  5. The road will fork; take the right fork up the hill, following the signs to Port Blakely. You are now on Blakely Avenue.
  6. Continue straight on Blakely Avenue. In approximately 1 mile you'll see Blakely Elementary School on your left.
  7. IslandWood is at the first driveway on your left after Blakely Elementary School. Turn left into IslandWood driveway. The street address is 4450 Blakely Avenue NE.
  8. Continue on the wooded driveway up the hill. Bear left to the parking area. Follow pathway and signs to the Welcome Center.
