School Partnerships

The School Partnership Program is set up to support schools that participate in IslandWood’s School Overnight Program (SOP).

The Partnership Program is set up to establish ways to effectively develop long-term relationships with schools prior to, during, and after students take part in the SOP. A variety of activities and strategies have been put in place to support schools. Among those activities included:

  • Connecting Our Classroom to Yours Workshops: Sessions for new and returning teachers to orient them to the campus, the curricula, and our programs.
  • School Liaisons: Each school is assigned a designated liaison who makes visits to the school to meet with students, parents and teachers to inform them about their IslandWood residential experience. Liaisons also assist schools with service learning projects to make a difference in their communities.

Through the School Partnership Program, we want to provide a seamless opportunity to establish ways to:

  1. Communicate and build strong alliances with schools and their surrounding communities.
  2. Link academic skills taught in the classroom to those taught at IslandWood.
  3. Translate the IslandWood experience back home by supporting community learning projects.
